Views from Alaska on Siete Cruces Hike Siete Cruces Hike and Fuentes Georginas
TAJUMULCO | XELA TO LAKE ATITLANPICO ZUNIL| NEBAJ | FULL MOON | FUENTES | FAQ

Enjoy a spectacular view hiking over the Siete Cruces and relax after a long hike in the natural hot springs, Fuentes Georginas.

The challenging Fuentes Georginas trek allows you a unique look into four of Guatemala´s alpine ecosystems in a single day. This one day hike leaves Quetzaltenango on Wednesdays (or on Tuesdays when the Full Moon hike is scheduled for Wednesday). We meet at the Quetzaltrekkers office at 5:30am, where we catch a pickup to the town of Xecam and have breakfast.

We begin with a climb through the cloud forest of Cantel, up to a mountain ridge at 3100m. Here we enjoy views into the valley of Xela, Lake Atitlan and the Antigua Volcanoes. Then we hike past the Siete Cruces to arrive to the summit of volcano Zunil (3542m) for lunch. After relaxing on the summit and gazing upon the Pacific Slope and the volcanoes Santo Tomas and Santa Maria, we hike down a narrow, steep path into the jungle. We pass through beautiful bamboo forests before descending directly into Fuentes Georginas. Finally, we enjoy an afternoon of soaking in these natural hot springs. At 6pm a Pickup will bring us back to Casa Argentina in Xela.

Be aware that while Siete Cruces is a one day hike, it is long and difficult. The trail to the top is steep and the descent may be slippery.
