Hello there, I am Liberty! I am from North Carolina, United States, and am exploring a gap year that now finds me in Guatemala with the coolest position I’ve ever had; guiding for Quetzal Trekkers. Some things that light a spark in me are exploring, making connections, delighting in nature, and of course good food. I hope you’ll join us for a trek to enjoy all these things together!

Hello! I’m Miguel and I grew up in the US (although I was born in El Salvador). I love sports like hiking, climbing, skiing, river surfing, soccer, and ninja! I also like getting to know new people and their stories, so it’d be great to get to know you on one of QT’s awesome hikes!

Hi I’m Sophia from the UK. I first hiked with Quetzaltrekkers as a client in 2017 then came back in early 2023 as a guide. I had such a great experience, I came back again in October to help start up the Nebaj to Todos Santos hike. I love hiking through mountains and for me, being able to see this beautiful country from multiple different high altitude view points is something really special.

Coordinators

Hi, my name is Yara and I’m from the Netherlands. After being a guide in 2022 I joined the team as a coordinator. Besides running the day-to-day at our office I like the longterm, playful balance between continuity and change that comes with the job. For me, the best part of Quetzaltrekkers is the amazing people I get to work with on a daily basis who are all supporting the kids and the social projects of EDELAC.

Hola, I’m Bryan. I love my work as a coordinator for Quetzaltrekkers here in Xela, and have spent well over a year now in this amazing place. I grew up in Oregon in the USA, but I am so grateful to live and work here in the stunning volcanic highlands, and I really value this organization’s incredible mission. All the relationships I’ve gotten to build here are so important to me, and I can’t imagine a better place to put my background in outdoor education into practice for such a unique nonprofit.
